| Eric, you are forever in our thoughts and we recall the precious few moments we spent in your company with many smiles. Your music lives on - just as thrilling and inspirational as when we first heard and watched you perform. Three years on and we miss you and honour your memory. |

Thats what makes us so proud,
You were that special person,
Who stood out in the crowd.

And whoes parting braught such pain,
We will cherish you'r memory for ever,
In a world that is never the same.

| Just wanted to say thank you to Eric. I have been playing for 35 years and was looking for new challanges when I ran across The Acoustic Guitar Bible. It's a wonderful primer for any guitarist, and the performance pieces at the end of the book certainly have caused me to rethink the possibilities of the fretboard.
His exhortations about practicing and the empathetic way Eric descirbes the process of learning the guitar are inspiring and reassuring. Somehow, I think Eric would agree that no matter how proficient one may become on the insturment, there is always "something more" to be discovered. You may begin with a desire to master the guitar, but ultimatley you dicover that the guitar has mastered you.
Gods' speed, Eric, I am hoping to meet you a bit further down the road. |

| I have recently taken up the challange of learning to play the guitar. After going through about 10-12 guitar books in the bookshop I finally went for Eric's 'The acoustic guitar bible'. I found the book very useful and decided to check out the other gutarist mentioned by Eric in the book in Youtube and Wikipedia. Finally I checked about Eric and in the comments below I found out to my horror that he was no more. Though I had not heard of him before I was deeply shocked and sad that we have lost such a musical genius. Rest in peace, Eric. My good wishes to your family. |

| Eric took my induction when I joined G.I.T in 1995, and was the one who rubber stamped my application.
When I heard of his passing a year and a half ago I was truly shocked. His enthusiasm for music was exceptional, and I'm a bit stumped as to why I didn't think to come here and post.
In an evironment where we learnt and played Jazz, Latin and in my case banged out a shit load of blues chops on top, here was a guy who'd get a beautiful Lowden out, tune it to DADGAD and send you somewhere else.
I don't play as often these days, and haven't for some time, but know that if I had an ounce of his desire to play the guitar, my wife would probably putting mine on ebay just so she got a look in!
Rest well Eric, and thoughts and best wishes to those you left behind.

| Eric is my inspiration, from the first time I saw him at Music Live at the NEC!
I have my arrangement of Roundabout up on my MySpace page amongst a few other videos!

Eric is the reason I'm out doing what I do, both playing my solo gigs and demoing for Cort guitars. He was a great player, and a great man.

| Whatever a person's beliefs, most seem to agree that the worth of a person's life lies in the difference they make. If that be so then your life was worth so very much. A track and tab by you in a magazine were what inspired me to go beyond strumming chords. It brought me so much joy! And gave me the tiniest insight as to how little I know about the instrument I'd spent so long slapping with a plectrum.
Now it's a few years on and I was looking for a book to learn more about the acoustic guitar. I saw your book advertised and that was the one I wanted, no question. I thought 'Eric Roche; he's the quitar man I would one day like to be. He's the one who's opinion I trust. His was the voice on that CD that I just plain liked.'
You made such a difference, Eric.
You still do. |
